2025 NJLPIA Training Day & Pre-Conference Recap 

September 14–15, 2025

The New Jersey Licensed Private Investigators Association (NJLPIA) hosted its annual Training Day and Pre-Conference on September 14 and 15, 2025, and the event was a tremendous success. Investigators from across the region filled the venue for two full days of professional development, networking, and knowledge sharing. Attendees enjoyed a strong lineup of speakers who delivered practical insights and timely updates on investigative techniques, legal trends, and emerging technology.

 

Sunday Pre-Conference:

The Sunday session featured industry expert Jimmie Mesis presenting “How to Increase Your PI Client Base.” His program was packed with fresh ideas and practical techniques valuable to both new and seasoned investigators, offering actionable strategies for growing and sustaining a thriving investigative practice.

 

Featured Presentations & Keynote Highlights:

Keynote Address – Brandon Perron, CCDI, CFI-FTER
Nationally recognized investigator and trainer Brandon Perron captivated the audience with “Forensic Case Review & Analysis & Lead Tracking.”


Brandon emphasized that every discovery document—police reports, photographs, and supporting evidence—is not mere reading material but the very foundation of a prosecution’s case. Brandon detailed his Component Method of Criminal Defense Investigation & Case Management and shared techniques for:

Morning Session Speakers:

Mark S. Guralnick, Esq.“Disposing the Private Investigator”

Attorney, private detective, and accomplished author, Mark shared his unparalleled credentials and unique perspective on leveraging investigative skills within legal strategy.

Eric Bishop“Overview of Mobile Forensics & Computer Data Recovery”
Withum’s Senior Manager of Cyber and Information Security explored mobile and computer forensics, including cell phone collections, data recovery, and tools such as Cellebrite and MSAB XRY.

Dave Gamble, LPI“Using Photography to Enhance Your Civil Case & Investigation”
A retired Detective Sergeant, Dave provided practical guidance on capturing clear, legally admissible photographs to strengthen investigative findings and enhance civil cases.

Nick TrubaInsurance Claims & Needs for the Private Investigator”
Acrisure/SIIS Insurance client advisor Nick Truba discussed current trends in claims against private investigators and offered essential tips to ensure proper business coverage.


The The Rutgers Conference Center provided an excellent setting for both education and networking. Members and guests took full advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen professional relationships, and learn new skills to bring back to their practices.

WHO THE NEW JERSEY

LICENSED PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS ASSOCIATION IS.

NJLPIA was established in 1955 to promote professionalism among our licensed investigator members. Since that time, NJLPIA, through its general membership and many volunteer board members, has worked hard to increase our ranks, establish an open dialogue with our licensing body - the New Jersey State Police, promote education and training for investigators and monitor and effect change in the NJ and Federal legislatures.

In addition, NJLPIA exists to help the general public learn more about our profession as well as to locate professional, qualified and licensed private investigators. We have members located from the southern tip of NJ to the northern most part of our state ready to help clients achieve their investigative goals.
